By 8;00 am, in a group comprising of not more eight trekkers, along with a guide, an armed ranger and porters, you penetrate the bwindi forest to track your assigned gorilla group.

The trek takes you through steep and slippery jungle grounds of the forest. The period taken to locate these shy giants varies from a few minutes to several hours. Chances of not locating the gorillas are very minimal, in fact by the time you start the trek, your guide or game ranger already has an idea of where to find them. He uses his knowledge of gorilla movements and their known location the previous day.

When you finally locate your gorilla group, a maximum of one hour is allowed to observe and photograph the gorillas. Though strenous, the trek is quite an ambience with a lot of wildlife encounters such as monkeys, forest birds, beautiful flowers, trees and shrubs.
